On the GreenBuilt Home Tour…
Happy Boolo Project Portion of the GreenBuilt Home Tour
We were so pleased to be featured in the GreenBuilt Home Tour on Wednesday, July 15th. While we are still mid-project, this was a chance to share more about our Happy Boolo Project with the larger Chicagoland area. The tour is organized every year by the Illinois Green Alliance and is typically in-person. Visitors enjoy checking out both new and renovated homes around the area that feature green technologies. But with the pandemic at play, Illinois Green did a great job transforming this into a virtual tour with a variety of presentation types as well as some helpful information on steps homeowners can take to incorporate more green technology into their home.
We collaborated with our architect/construction manager to create a presentation that would explain our why for the project — living what we love through growing, making and sharing food with the people in our lives —, the philosophy that guides the work: Community, Functionality and Sustainability, and the plans for the inside and outside including pictures of some of the work in progress. We were pleased to demonstrate our commitment to community through featuring several experts who have contributed to our project.
We also participated in a panel discussion at the end of the segment facilitated by Lindsey Elton from Eco-Achievers, the third party-verifier for our home and many other high-performance homes in Chicago. Mike and I fielded questions about the investment involved in such a renovation and the overall approach to engaging key stakeholders and our various communities in the project…questions that will make for great future blog posts.
Above you can watch just our portion of the tour. Below you can watch the full program from July 15th.
Have a Happy Boolo Day!
